1 + 1 = AWESOME.

Awesome music and awesome style, that is.

But before I elaborate, let me provide a brief explanation as to why my blog has been neglected for awhile: I work. A lot. And I don't work at a place that lets me do other things (like blog), while I 'work'. On my days off I played Dungeons and Dragons (yes I did and I am not ashamed), but playing said game took the better part of a day (and night). So I decided to stop playing games and start focusing on myself, because work was pretty much erasing any sense of self I had. So here I am. Back on track. Hoping to premiere a new post at least once a week, without fear of once again putting myself into syndication.

Moving on. I have a new love. Let me make myself clear: I have a new OBSESSION. Two words: Best Coast. Best Coast is the best 'girly-fluffy-poppy-bubblegum' band to surface since The Shirelles in the 1960's. I'm serious. No really. I'm not kidding. They're amazing. Like eating a popsicle on a hot summer day while sitting on your lawn in front of the sprinklers amazing. And I don't know about you ladies out there, but sometimes Fiona Apple and Jenny Lewis don't really help cure a bad case of tear drops. Best Coast, however, will. Yes, they sing about love, loss, wanting and not getting, but they do it in a way that makes you want to cuddle with a bunch of fluffy kittens. Their lyrics are simple, to the point, and leave no room for guessing games (i.e: 'what the fuck is Fiona Apple talking about in this song?!'). Don't get me wrong, there is always room for gut wrenching 'I need to cry and be alone' music, but not where Best Coast is concerned. Which is precisely why I love them.

Oh and also, Bethany Cosentino, Best Coast's front woman, has awesome (I can't use that word enough) fashion sense. And guess what else? SHE DOESN'T WEIGH 90 POUNDS. Maybe it's the summer lover in me that gravitates more towards the summery style she seems to possess, or maybe I'm biased because she loves cats, but I swear to God, I want everything I have ever seen her wear. EVERYTHING. When I first peeped some google images of her, I found a photo of her wearing an Oakland Raiders jersey. I WANT IT. Rather, I want to look as good as her wearing it.

Ok. Without making myself sound MORE like a giddy school girl, ladies (and maybe gentlemen?), I present to you, Best Coast (and my new girl crush, Bethany Cosentino):

(The interviewer in this video is almost as annoying as Berkeley vegans, but Bethany Cosentino makes up for it).
